Re: what one needs?
I have a Camelback 1.5L hydration pack bought new from Ebay, payed 18euro with postage, so quite cheap. Very high quaity, very pleased with it!
Radio, I have a Midand G7, only issue is that most military handsets are made either for motorola or kenwood!
Vest, I suggest something MOLLE, which you can configer to your needs.

Im also planning to get a MOLLE vest since you can customize it to your needs as you wish. Lol my bro told me that one time his friend had run over the camelbak to do the car-run-over-camelbak-test! Those things are built like bricks! I will probably go for the one from ehobbyasia but i still have to look into more options as you can find relatively low prices from the top manufacturers like Eagle Industries, 5.11, Specter Gear etc etc. Just need to look around.

Re: what one needs?
Hi, ppl
I was being tempted to get a Camelback hydration system, but after some consideration.
a thermos of 1.5L or say 2.0L would be better. I think it is more hygienic and have not to carry it all way round. !!!!!, apart from the fact I can put ice cubes and lemonade and remains cool for a long time and is very simple to clean it.
I haven’t read a lot about these hydration systems but I think they are made of some type of plastic bladder. This bring the problem as well of sterilizing the equipment after use.
I found this site which has some info about these systems.
Enjoy the reading!!!
ps.
The above considerations are made in view of our sporting activities. other situations are not taken in consideration such as extreme survival conditions, long patrols, iraq conflict scenarios etc etc.

RE: What one needs.
Hi ppl.
Following my last posts. Someone asked about radios. For our use we don’t need any particular sophistication.
From the variety of radios in the market, we use PMR446 radios. It is important that they are PMR446 due to radio licenses issues and RF power of transmitting.
These use UHF Band in the range of 446.000 to 446.093Mhz
Don’t go for any other either the above as these are set for EU region which have 8 channels with sub channels as well. Maximum RF power is 500mWatt, which is more then enough for us.
If one really wants, he can fool around the electronics and boost the RF power, but we don’t need that RF power for our line of sight comms and it is also not advisable.
I have 3 different type of sets. All with their pro and cons But to have a decent radio, you need to spend at least €80 not less. This is for both functionality and durability.
One of the most important options is the fact that you can change the radio channels without going through complicated menus.
Another option is the mic.
I personally prefer the Secret Service type. You have 2 different connectors independent
One is a dedicated ear phone connected directly to the ear pin and another which is the mic.
This is wrist attached with the mic on the wrist and the mic switch next to your finger.
If you search the posts for key word “radio” you will see the old posts.
Ps.
Please, at the time we use radio comms for tactical communications, BUT these radios in our scenarios could be used for security/patrol and for distress communications if ever this could happen or even ALERT situations when we need to halt the game and regroup in a safe area and give particular instructions for the re-group. Ok one would say “ok simply shout out” but having more than one option sometimes help in some situations.
The most important in comms is not to create confusion so, Fundamental is "Knowing who is giveing instructions"
When going for a radio, get the most simple to operate and which fulfills our needs.
“COMMUNICATION BETWEEN TEAM UNITS” in normal and special situations.

Re: what one needs?
As for the vest, that cannot be considered as a show piece either. First of all you must carry all your mags in it. Apart from that it would be desireable that everybody carries some field essentials. These include extra ammo, ammo loader, water, small combo tools such as a leatherman, small first aid kit/field dressing, flashlight, monocular and maybe a spare aeg battery. In real life (not necessarily required in airsoft though) we also manage to carry at least a day's basic needs in combat including brew kit, poncho, rifle cleaning kit, hygene kit, fighting knife, bayonet etc. in the webbing or vest. Granted that it's more weight to carry around but at the end of the day you would be reasonably 'self sufficient' for the game. Just my 2 euro cents.

Re: what one needs?
those who have army boots/leather be sure to polish them army style, since if it is not polished the leather will crack and it will no longer be waterproof, the shining is just a bonus of the polishing.
