Best L85/SA80?
Allo nies, in my vain attempts to recreate the glory days of my youth I've been trying to finish my Para reg loadout with a decent SA80/L85 AEG (Ideally, a GPMG, but anyway-dream on). There seem to be roughly a gazillion of these on the market with varying prices/sights/fps/rates of fire.
Any suggestions on brands?
Also-should I order online (there doesn't seem to be any in Malta) or would that require an import licence. Qalmadonni red tape=the bane of my life

Re: Best L85/SA80?
i was looking at that to there are mainly 3 versions star, g&g and army armament
now star is the most expensive reaching $500+ and has some design flows, g&g is around $200 and still it has a design flows that will start once the gun is downgraded since it fires 400fps out of the box (mostly the cock handle will break etc)
now last army armament i read quite alot on this weapon the main problem is, it is made of steel so you have to take care of it with silicone oil and clean it so you prevent rust, it is a clone of the g&g and it took care of 90% of the design flows it had also you have the blowback (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0caNES3hj8) from the reviews i read only the first batch had a problem becuase someone hurried the company or they would remove there order (thousands of money) but eventually the other batches where all upgraded and everything seems to be quite solid
oh forgot the best part it is pretty cheap can be found at $100-120, the drawbacks of the gun are its piston since all gears are made of metal (from what i read) and the piston is plastic so just a small upgrade and it uses an 18teeth (there is an upgrade for the 16teeth + spacer but you remove the pretension of the spring). it also takes some m4 series mags so it quite good
there might be some problems if you want to place a susat instead of the iron sights though
I am looking forward to this gun but since the uniform is acu ill stick with the acu and not the british loadout except for the weapon
a detailed review on the gearbox and gun: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?s=dc174ea2e443bfe286020ff3e4adc205&showtopic=109921
you can find quite of few on it from the internet, hope that helps

Re: Best L85/SA80?
king int Liquid.
(For someone with a RM looking really 'scary' [whilst firing his '80 with a BFA] as an avatar, that is )
regarding the gears/springs/pistons etc - this is all greek to me lol!
I haven't a clue as to how AEGs work, let alone how to modify them.
looks like this may take some time for me to figure out

Re: Best L85/SA80?
susat is hard to use if you used other scopes before, it is quite a different feeling
its true it fits more on the rifle but i like the new model as well

Re: Best L85/SA80?
last time i read it will be released next year unless they pushed the date to this year, i already had taken that into considaration but the estamited price was around 300 sterlings exlcuding shipping (quite a price -_-)
anyway i will check it out again maybe it has been released and reviewed by someone with experience not some stupid kids you find on youtube (14yrs and already running with rifles )
there was also a new brand that will bring the rifle out but it is still undecided when

Re: Best L85/SA80?
just remembered the other brnd M.D.S it released a protype on youtube 2006 since then no more information like wtf happened ......
edit: after nearly 30mins i managed to fidn the ICS model for sale: http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/erol/erol.html quite high and no blowback like the army armament one (still the best in my opinion) also i dont think it made a great hit it was a bit difficult to find one and never saw one from any other airsoft sites (army, star and g&g are the common ones)
